Fees & Booking
Transparent pricing for specialist audiology and listening services. If you are unsure which appointment is right for you, please get in touch — we can help identify the most suitable starting point.
At Hearing Pathways, assessments are tailored to the individual. The type and length of appointment recommended will depend on age, developmental needs, presenting concerns and the level of specialist assessment required.
A good starting point if you have concerns about your child's hearing or listening but are unsure which assessment is most appropriate. The appointment includes a discussion of your concerns, examination of the ears and middle-ear function testing where possible. A hearing screen may be completed where developmentally appropriate. We will advise on whether any further assessment is recommended. If your child has a known or suspected hearing loss, a Comprehensive Hearing Assessment is likely to be more appropriate, as this allows for more detailed diagnostic testing. Please note: A written report is not included. Additional reporting can be arranged separately and may incur an additional fee.
A detailed, developmentally appropriate hearing assessment for children under 3, offered at our specialist Early Years clinic in Glasgow with two paediatric audiologists in attendance. The assessment is complemented by a medical consultation with Dr Matthew Wickham at Glasgow Ear Clinic, providing an integrated audiology and medical pathway where appropriate. Testing is adapted to your child's developmental level, communication and individual needs. A full written report is included. Best suited to: Children under 3 requiring a comprehensive hearing assessment, including those with suspected hearing difficulties or developmental concerns.
The same detailed, developmentally appropriate hearing assessment as our Early Years Comprehensive Assessment with Medical Consultation, without the additional medical consultation. Offered at our specialist Early Years clinic in Glasgow with two paediatric audiologists in attendance. Particularly suited to children under 4, children with SEND or developmental differences, and children already seen by a doctor or ENT specialist who do not require an additional medical consultation. Testing is adapted to your child's developmental level and individual needs. A full written report is included.
A comprehensive hearing assessment for children approaching school age, providing detailed ear-specific hearing information using age-appropriate diagnostic testing. This appointment is suited to children who can follow simple instructions and tolerate headphones or ear-level testing. It is carried out by our Lead Paediatric Audiologist at our Milngavie clinic and includes a detailed written report. If your child is unlikely to manage headphones or the required listening tasks, our Early Years Comprehensive Assessment may be more appropriate. Please contact us if you are unsure.
A comprehensive diagnostic hearing assessment for school-age children, providing a detailed picture of hearing and how your child manages spoken information. The appointment includes an in-depth clinical history, examination of the ears, middle-ear function testing, diagnostic pure-tone audiometry and speech testing where appropriate. Findings and recommended next steps are discussed at the appointment. A detailed written report is included and can be tailored for school, SENCO/SENDCO, GP, ENT or other professionals as required. Best suited to: School-age children who can reliably participate in diagnostic ear-specific hearing testing.
A specialist hearing assessment for children and young people with SEND, developmental differences or additional communication, sensory or learning needs. Two qualified paediatric audiologists work together to adapt the assessment to the individual — considering developmental level, communication style, sensory preferences and ability to engage with different testing methods. We do not rush these appointments; breaks are taken as needed and testing is adjusted throughout. Where a full assessment cannot be completed in a single visit, a further appointment can be arranged. A detailed written report is included and can support communication with parents, school, SENCO/SENDCO and other involved professionals. Best suited to: Children and young people with SEND or developmental differences who benefit from a flexible, individualised assessment approach.

A thorough diagnostic audiology assessment that goes beyond a routine hearing screen, providing a detailed understanding of your hearing and communication needs. The appointment includes an in-depth clinical history, video otoscopy, middle-ear function testing, diagnostic pure-tone audiometry, and speech audiometry where clinically appropriate. Findings are interpreted in the context of your real-world listening needs, not just as an audiogram in isolation. Following the assessment, we will discuss the results and any recommended next steps — which may include reassurance, communication strategies, medical referral, hearing technology or further listening assessment. A detailed written diagnostic report is included and can be shared with your GP, ENT specialist or other healthcare professional. Best suited to: Adults seeking a detailed investigation of their hearing, those experiencing hearing or communication difficulties, or anyone considering hearing technology.
Please call to book an Adult Comprehensive Hearing Assessment.
A detailed specialist hearing and listening assessment for children or adults with concerns about auditory processing, listening or understanding speech — particularly in background noise or complex listening environments. The appointment includes an in-depth history, examination of the ears, middle-ear function testing, diagnostic pure-tone audiometry, speech audiometry and speech-in-noise assessment where suitable. The aim is to establish a clear picture of peripheral hearing and listening needs and determine whether a full Auditory Processing Assessment is clinically appropriate. Not everyone with listening difficulties will require a full APD assessment. Findings from this appointment help identify the most appropriate next step. Please note: A detailed written report is not routinely included. Additional reporting can be arranged separately and may incur an additional fee.
A specialist assessment for younger children experiencing listening difficulties, where a full diagnostic APD assessment may not yet be developmentally appropriate. Rather than seeking to diagnose APD, this assessment explores how your child's listening and auditory skills are developing relative to their age and stage. It can be particularly valuable for children who appear to hear normally but struggle in background noise, following instructions, remembering spoken information or managing complex listening situations — including children being assessed for autism or ADHD. The assessment is individually tailored and typically involves approximately 2–3 hours of specialist clinical time, with breaks and testing adapted to the child's needs. Considerable professional time is also spent outside the appointment reviewing, scoring and interpreting results. A detailed written report, individualised recommendations and a feedback session are included. Please note: This is a developmental listening and auditory skills assessment and does not provide a diagnosis of APD.
A highly specialised, comprehensive auditory processing assessment for school-age children, building a detailed picture of how your child processes and makes sense of auditory information. The pathway includes an in-depth clinical consultation, review of pre-assessment information, and a comprehensive specialist auditory processing test battery individually selected for your child. Up to approximately four hours of clinical assessment is provided, with testing adapted across sessions as needed. Findings are interpreted as a pattern rather than individual test scores, and integrated with your child's hearing, listening, communication and educational needs. A comprehensive written diagnostic report, individualised recommendations and a dedicated feedback session are all included. The fee reflects both the face-to-face assessment and the significant specialist time required to analyse results and prepare an individualised report and management plan.
A highly specialised and comprehensive auditory processing assessment for adults with persistent listening difficulties not fully explained by hearing sensitivity alone. The pathway includes an in-depth clinical consultation, review of pre-assessment information, and a comprehensive specialist auditory processing test battery individually selected for your profile. Findings are interpreted as a pattern and integrated with your hearing, communication, lifestyle and workplace or study needs. A comprehensive written diagnostic report, individualised recommendations and a dedicated feedback session are all included. Recommendations may include listening strategies, auditory training, environmental modifications, workplace adjustments, assistive technology or onward referral where appropriate. The fee reflects both the face-to-face assessment and the significant specialist time required to analyse results and prepare an individualised report and management plan.
Please call to discuss a Listening or Auditory Processing Assessment. A preliminary telephone consultation can be arranged.
A specialist technology consultation for individuals who would like to explore hearing aids, remote microphone systems or other assistive listening technology. The appointment provides an opportunity to discuss your individual hearing and listening needs and, where appropriate, demonstrate or trial suitable technology across home, school, work and everyday listening environments. This consultation fee does not apply to patients who have already completed a Comprehensive Hearing or Auditory Processing Assessment with Hearing Pathways, where technology discussion forms part of the management pathway. For patients who subsequently purchase recommended technology through Hearing Pathways, the £150 fee may be deducted from the cost of the device or technology package where applicable. If technology is recommended, you will receive an individual quotation based on the specific equipment and fitting requirements.
Please call to enquire which pathway would be best suited.
All Comprehensive Assessments include a detailed written report as part of the assessment fee. Initial consultations and other appointments do not routinely include a report, and additional charges may apply where further reporting, correspondence or clinical work is required. If you're unsure which appointment is right for you or your child, please contact us — we're happy to discuss your needs and help you choose the most appropriate starting point.
If you or your child has experienced a sudden or significant change in hearing, particularly over a few hours or up to 3 days, please do not book a routine appointment online.
Contact Hearing Pathways directly so that we can take some initial information and advise on the most appropriate next step.
